Tech 4 Development is an initiative by Empower Communities Ghana that leverages technology as a catalyst for sustainable community and economic development.

In today’s world, digital access and literacy are essential tools for growth, equality and innovation. Our mission is to bridge the digital divide by ensuring that every child and community has access to the tools, skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the digital age.

Tech 4 Development Programme

You might be wondering, what exactly is a Mobile Computer Lab?

Our Mobile Computer Lab functions like a library, but instead of students travelling to access computers, the computers come directly to them.

Schools can book the Mobile Computer Lab for computer lessons. Our team travels to the school, sets up the laptops and gives students the opportunity to practise what they are learning in real time.

At Empower Communities Ghana, we believe that creating access to digital devices is the first step towards bridging the digital divide.

In focus

How the lab is taking shape

01

Immediate impact

The impact was immediately visible at launch. Many students had the opportunity to use a laptop for the first time, transforming theoretical IT lessons into practical and engaging learning experiences.

02

Focused on Teshie

The project is currently focused on Teshie, where we are working with schools to support practical IT education.

03

Growing the programme

As the programme grows, we plan to invest in additional laptops and expand the Mobile Computer Lab to other communities.

04

STEAM and Robotics

From September 2026, we also plan to introduce STEAM and Robotics sessions, giving students opportunities to develop critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving and collaboration skills.

From Vision to Reality

Building a stronger and more inclusive society where every child and young person can flourish.
